RLOM's Executive Director, Sheryl DeWitt and husband Rev. Ed DeWitt of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer (Sanford, FL) attended the LCEF Fall Leadership Conference in New Orleans this November, where they were honored and humbled to receive the Fred E. Lietz Mission Project Award.
Redeeming Life was nominated by the FL-GA District LCEF Team. The Fred E. Lietz Mission Project Award recognizes outstanding efforts on the part of mission projects within The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) that have been helped through loans or services from Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF). The projects considered for this honor must be unique/special ministry programs which meet needs and provide opportunities to overcome obstacles, which also reflect the goals of the LCEF Mission. Only one ministry is selected each year for this honor and RLOM is proud to be recognized in this way!
Created in 1990, the Fred E. Lietz Mission Award is named in honor of the late Fred Lietz, first executive secretary of Church Extension. Mr. Lietz then became the first president of Lutheran Church Extension Fund when the organization was incorporated in 1978 and continued to serve as a Silver Eagle until his passing in 2012.
